Polaris is a chorus/vibrato inspired by the original EHX Small Clone. One has resided in the shoppe since it’s inception. With it’s smooth modulation and simple controls, it was a great starting point. At the heart of Polaris resides an MN3007 BBD chip. The same chip found in the original NYC box. After recreating the circuit in a breadboard, we moved forward from there. We started by replacing the depth switch in favor of a knob. This allows for better control of the modulation depth. Following in the steps of Daedalus, we incorporated a second depth knob that is selectable via the secondary footswitch. The original circuit did not have any tone control options. We decided to implement a Tone knob on Polaris. This knob allows the user to add or cut lower bass presence to the signal. Once we had a tone section sculpted to our liking, we placed a master Volume knob at the end of the circuit. The Volume knob goes from full cut to slightly boosted above unity volume. These two knobs work in conjunction with each other. Lastly, we added a Mode toggle switch to seamlessly alter between chorus and vibrato modes.

VOLUME – Controls overall output volume. Ranges from full cut to a strong boost.

TONE – Fine tunes the low end response.Interactive with the Volume knob.

RATE – Controls the modulation speed.

FOCUS – Controls the overall modulation depth.

FOCUS II – Controls the overall modulation depth when the right footswitch is engaged.

MODE SWITCH – Toggle between Vibrato (pitch modulation: left) and Chorus (pitch duplication: right). in a sense, your natural – albeit modulated tone to the left, and a lush full sound to the right, much like our lunar graphic.

9V – Standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm center negative power supply. Polaris has internal polarity protection.

I love my polaris! The diversity in tone I can get is amazing! The warm analog sound its beautiful and with just an adjustment of the tone knob I can make it brighter to cut through a thick mix or stack it with fuzz and get a great lead solo tone. Its fantastic that you have a volume knob on the pedal that you can actually boast your signal, something that my old small clone just did not have. My favorite part if this pedal is the second focus option you can push that thing into almost harmonizer world! The sounds you can get are amazing. I love the options you get on the pedal without sacrificing and quality in tone. Super durable and total tonal control that no other chorus has. Love it
